'smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554
smtp.tiscali.co.uk', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 554, Error

Both,

I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to

www.oehelp.com/wmutil

and download Steve's utility to the desktop per his instructions. Then use
the utility (after unzipping) and compact your e-mail. It worked for me and
hopefully will work for you. Also compact your e-mail every time the dialog
box appears asking if you want to compact your e-mail.

Good luck.

The WMUtil program will do nothing for the '554' server error the OP
is experiencing.

Are you stuck on copy\paste. Stop giving that answer each and every time you post. Go away. You are starting to cause problems for all.

I talked with my ISP and they had me change my account to POP3; now I can
send messages, but I still can't delete some already read messages in my
inbox. It's VERY frustrating to say the least. Kattylady

If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no
instances of it under applications or processes.
Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search
Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.

How do I get my mail messages back? They appear to have been dumped on my
desktop? I npw have no e-mail info.

I don't understand what you mean by "They appear to have been dumped on my
desktop."
