alternate slides have different background?

Although I have only one master slide, it turns out that alternate slides
have a different color intensity in the background. However, this is only
apparent when I print. It looks alright on the screen. I've tried making sure
that the title text box is moved to the front. That works sometimes, not all
the times. Ideas?
 
It doesn't seem to be the printer since it happens on other printers also.

It's haunted? ;-)

If Slide 1 has intensity 1 and Slide 2 has intensity 2, what happens if you
insert a new slide after 1?

Does slide New-2 now have intensity 2 and slide 3-was-originally-2 go back to
intensity 1?
 
I've decided that the ppt's are haunted and that I just don't care. In the
greater scheme of things, I don't have time to 'fix' this feature of changing
intensity since it looks ok on the screen.
But thanks for your help. Some 'features' should just be ignored. : )
