How to change background color that appears when editing a slide?

When I print or preview the powerpoint slides, the color displays
appropriately, however, when I need to edit text within a slide, the
background color of the text box changes to a really bright blue and makes it
nearly impossible to read.

Using PPT 2003?

This is a function of the background color and the text color. I often would
see bright blue like that if I had, for example, dark blue background, white
text and yellow and red highlight text. PPT's just looking for something
that lets you see all the colored text in the textbox. I don't know of a way
to change it.
