Altering the Autoplay bus scan timing

My new 3GHz system has lots of drives that are always being scanned at abour a 1 second rate
(The CD changer and tape drive lights blink at this rate.
I beleive this is being caused by the "AutoPlay" feature
How do I change this scan rate ???? It is being really annoying and slowing me down

Not Autoplay!! This could be part of your anti-virus system, Microsoft
Office Fast Find feature or Microsoft XP Indexing feature.
