Problems with Autoplay

Hi,

I just bought a Nikon digital camera which I connect via one of the USB
drives in front of my HP desktop computer. I have SP2 installed. The camera
came with a software CD called "Picture Project" which I installed without
apparent problem.

The problem is that autoplay does not work for this camera. That is, it
fails to open when I connect the camera to the USB drive. I can hear Windows
playing a two tone falling sound which often precedes the opening of
Autoplay...but not in this case. Autoplay seemed to work for a while on my
previous camera but at some point it stopped working. Possibly after my
computer went to a repair shop to be cleaned of a couple of viruses. Autoplay
works fine for music CDs so I'm wondering if it is something specific to the
particular drive I am using?

I went to the Microsoft Download site and downloaded autofix.exe and ran
that 2 times after reproducing the problem (non appearance of autoplay after
plugging in/powering on the device)...but it couldn't find anything wrong and
said something like maybe my device was malfunctioning (which device it was
referring to I'm not sure).

I also opened My Computer, right clicked on the drive in question and then
clicked on Autoplay and played around with those settings without producing a
solution.

I also looked in Device Manager but was too overwhelmed by the long list of
stuff and not really sure what I was trying to find or do there.

Can any one help?
