Alter amount of time notification area slides open

Is it possible to alter the amout of time that the notification area stays
open when you click the arrow to expose all the hidden icons? Sometimes it
closes so fast I can't get the mouse over to the icon I want, and sometimes
it stays open with time to spare. I was hoping there is a place (possibly in
the registry) that will allow me to set a minimum open time (perhaps 6
seconds or so) before it closes. Thanks.

If you hold the mouse pointer on the notification area while all icons are being shown (after pressing the 'left arrow'), they won't hide automatically.

Thanks, I appreciate it. I am an experienced programmer and hard core user
but in the mad dash that is my desktop experience most of the time I missed
