After Security Patches installed my XP System fails to boot

After installing a number of security patches my system fails to boot. No
error messages just fails and restarts.

I've attempted Safe Mode but no luck.

I've booted to the Recovery Console and copied the files back that were
installed by 3 of the patches that I thought might be the problem but no luck.

I've done a chkdsk /p (in recovery console) and no errors found.

I really don't want to reinstall to repair the OS. The last time I did this
many many software products had to be reinstalled.

Any ideas of what to try next?

Thanks

Try booting into Last Known Good Configuration. This option is on the
same menu where you found Safe Mode.

Sorry I left that off the things that I've tried. No luck with Last known
configuration. :-(

Anyone have any other ideas? I'm going to use ERD Commander tonight and see
if it can help me.

If you have access to ERD Commander and it's a recent version, it will
let you do a System Restore.

Congradulations on the MVP Award. I was a SNA Server MVP years ago. It was
a big group of 3 people. One in the US, one in the UK and one in Sydney.
Microsoft decided to handle it them selfs and dropped the MVP program for SNA
Server. I didn't really have time to do it and my real job so it was best.
I sure did enjoy the MVP Summits and getting to meet the other MVP's.
