I have Vista Business Premium -> upgraded from Windows XP Pro SP2 (not clean
install)...every morning when I boot my laptop, Aero is disabled. First of
all, I own a genuine copy of the OS, not a pirated copy that has been
validated as genuine and activated.
When I boot once a day...in the morning Aero is disabled...I cannot even
select it in the personalization control panel. In order to get Aero to work
and appear in the personalization control panel I have to do the following:
Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :
- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'
Once I restart DWM, Aero is re-enabled and working the rest of the
day...even if I reboot the system. It only seems to disable itself in the
morning during the first boot of the day.
Why is this happening...is there a problem with my current installation or
is this a bug that Microsoft will address in the near future. Judging by
some of the comments here, I think that this issue seems be pervasive...but I
could be wrong. Any input is greatly appreciated.
