Hi, I am planning to build my first pc quite soon. It will mainly be used for gaming and I am planning to add another GeForce 6800GT in the future. So far, this is what I have come up with. What are your thoughts? Any tips/advice?

Mobo:
Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe S939 NF4 SLI ATX - Sound 2xgln 1394 USB2 SATA link

Processor:
AMD (Venice) Athlon 64Bit 3200+ Socket 939pin 512k L2cache 90nm Retail Boxed Processor
link[?]

Memory:
Corsair (TWINX1024-3200C2PT) 1024MB (2 x 512MB Matched Pair), DDR400 / PC3200, non-ECC, Unbuffered, CL2, Lifetime Warranty, Silver Heat Spreader
link

Graphics:
Leadtek WinFast PX6800GT-TDH256 GeForce 6800GT 256MB PCI-E TV-out DVI Leadtek Ultra Cooling System Game Bundle (Prince of Persia & Splinter Cell)
link

Hard Drive:
Western Digital 160GB Serial ATA150 7200rpm 8mb Cache- OEM link

DVD/RW:
Samsung TS-H552UB 16x16x DVD R/RW IDE Internal OEM Black link

CD/RW:
LiteOn 52x32x52x Smartburn CD/RW Black Bezel With Software - OEM link

Case:
I-Cute 0314TL ATX Gaming Case in Black with side window and 400w PSU (no power cord) link

Additional Fan:
Ebuyer Value 8cm Case Fan with Blue LED's link

Total Cost = £700

Is the supplied PSU enough?
Is everything compatible?
Should I go for a 200GB hard drive instead of a 160GB?

Thanks :

the supplied PSU will work but i'd recommend getting a Tagan 480W PSU, will you need 200GB of hard drive space ? if you dont mind spending a little more then get it, it all looks comptible but you dont have a floppy drive listed which will be needed to install the SATA drivers when you install the OS

Me__2001, you do not need a Floppy drive for SATA drivers, XP has its own and you can 'upgrade' later if you need to ... however, you may need a Floppy drive for installing RAID drivers. ;)

All sounds good ... if you have the extra money get a 3500 :) ... and also maybe a new PSU as with SLi you will need more power i think ... the graphics card is good :) ... iov heard xfx has loud fans.. so buy a new one or go with a leadtek... they seem to be the one of the best

Ok i have changed to a Leadtek 6800GT. I have been looking for a 480W Tagan PSU from Ebuyer but I cannot find any. I am also looking for a good case without a PSU already installed any recommendations?

And what is RAID?

Thanks

your CPU is a definitive limiting factor, go for a 3500 or faster.
it think you mean a 80mm not a 8cm fan :D
as for a case, i suggest you get a full tower (if you dont plan of moving it often) something like a Coolermaster Stacker as seen here:

RAID ... you don't need it, don't worry ... Google will give you lots of thought, and confusion. ;)

sorry im not sure on the psu but the case you picked out is nice :) i would try and get one eith a window... make it look better in my opinion :) ...

the only thing i could say about the psu's are this... "The world first PSU which can compatiable with Intel ATX12V 1.3 and ATX12V 2.01 standards at the same time"

i have no idea what this means  but hopefully someone will pick up on this issue :p

the case you have chosen is the one i want to get

i have the U01 version of the Tagan and it has all the connectors you need, im not sure on the difference between the two but theres a switch on the U22 that does something to the 12V rail (flopps if you could explain this :) )

either one will work in your system

I think im going to order my pc tomorrow. These are my final specs. Can someone double-check that this is all compatible and that I have not missed anything out, just to be sure.

Thanks :)

it all looks good to me :thumb:, why do you need a CD-RW and a DVD-RW, why not get just the DVD-RW and a DVD-Rom ?

It all looks good and i can see you obviously want to keep the purchase all with one retailer but if your spending that amount on what is pretty much a decent top end system then i do not agree with your purchase of your chosen 17"TFT screen...

Remember you will be looking at this for a long time to come so why not splash out the extra cash and get a really top class TFT monitor, i wouldn't touch a Neovo (or whatever you'd like to call it) if you paid me... If your in for a decent system then do as i say and take my advice and get yourself one of these iiyama TFT's, you will thank me for it....:D

Go click the link and hit Buy.....You know you want it....:p

I would change the Samsung to a Pioneer DVR-109 and drop any of the others ... the Pioneer will do the lot and you keep you in good order.

If you can stretch the money a little, nothing, I mean nothing will beat the Plextor PX-716SA DVD Writer (SATA Interface) ... make the most of your SATA. ;)

Yes Muck's I was thinking why did he want a dvdr and a cdrw when most units do the lot, but thought he just wanted to fill his case up so it looked less empty...thats why i didn't comment on that...

But get that TFT............

yep good system you got there :) like to see you took my advise on the window on the case :p

and instead of getting a CD-RW and a DVD-RW get one that has both... a DVD-RW can copy cd's anyway :)

like crazylegs said... get the extra cash and find a new monitor it will be worth it :)

all in all good system :D
