Adobe Flash Player 10

In Win XP Home, I have a problem with getting Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX
to work. It’s in Control Panel, but Web sites that need it don’t recognize
that I have it! What’s the fix?

Hi, I had similar problems and eventually found that the problem was with the
website not being updated and so not recognizing Version 10. I uninstalled 10
reinstalled 9 and the website worked.

Try other websites that use Flash such as YouTube and see if it works Ok and
if it does my bet it’s the website.

Hope this helps.

I went to U-Tube and got this message: "Hello, you either have JavaScript
turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash
player." I have the latest Flash! JavaScript in Control Panel. How do I find
out if it is turned on or off!

A difficult problem to resolve. I've had more than a few cases where
the underlying issue is Registry Key permission issues. There is a tool
that can reset the entire Registry permissions to a default value but I'd
recommend/use that as a last resort. There is also a key value that can
be used to inhibit Flash even if it's installed on the machine. In the HK
Local Machine\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\
{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}
The Key name is "Compatibility Flags" If it's value =dword:00000400
then flash has been disabled.

For formatting purposes I abbreviated "HKey_" to HK. I also left
out the path \Software after HKey_Local_Machine\.

Sorry for the multiple errors...

Thank you for the clarification. The Compatibility Flags Reg-Dword was
0x00000000 (0)

What does it say if you go to
http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/ ?

Are you talking about Internet Explorer or other browser such as Firefox? It
sure sounds like you're talking about non Internet Explorer browser. ActiveX
plugin is only for Internet Explorer. If you use mozilla browser, you'll
need to download and install Flash plug-in for mozilla browser.

That is a good question! How do I go about finding if I do have a program
that blocks flashplayer?

Yes, John, I'm talking about IE 7. Got any other Ideas? This is driving me
crazy!!!

The default setting is enabled. Someone must have disabled it.
Good to know you've solved the mystery.

I am having the same issues. Where do i find Shockwave Flash Object?

Flash
- Open Internet Properties.
- On the General tab page, click the "Settings" button.
- Click "View Objects".
- Right-click the "Shockwave Flash Object".
- Click Update. If no results, click Remove. It should be reinstalled
as needed.
