Adobe acrobat

I have windows xp installed and keep getting the
following message when I try to install Adobe acrobat 6.0
standard:
windows installer service cannot be accessed.

I have tried to install in regular and vga mode and get
the same message

Any suggestions?

I got an similar kind of problem. I reinstalled the Acrobat reader and it works fine now!
