Adding windows mail to receive my comcast mail

I am setting up a wireless network with my comcast cable modem since I
purchased a new laptop. I am trying to be able to continue receiving my
comcast mail in my outlook on my desktop but also receiving it in windows
mail on my new laptop. I was able to receive mail on windows mail lastnight
but those messages did not go to my outlook, I am also unable to send
outgoing messages from windows mail. Today since I have turned on my laptop
windows mail is now not receiving messages but going to outlook on my destop.
Can this be done and what am I doing wrong?

This is normal behavior for a POP email account. The first computer to
connect to the email server gets all the email available and then deletes it
from the server, leaving none for the other computer. To fix this, set both
computers to "Leave a copy of email on the server" so both computers can
download it, then set one of the two computers (makes no difference which
one) to "Delete mail from the server after (xx) days", so it doesn't pile up
and run you out of space on the server.

Tools > Accounts > Select your email account > Properties > Advanced Tab, bottom of the dialog.
