adding fat32 disk

A

angie

My friends hard drive was added on to my system and the
the first partition of 4 showed up with garbage
characters but the other three were fine.

When she got home and put it in her machine, it turned
that my XP home edition had tried to convert her disk
from fat32 to ntfds because there was some recory
directory she had never seen and the rest of her disk is
still missing.

She needs her primary partition and all the information
back.

Ho do we do this?

Regards,
Angie.

Something is very fishy about your predicament. Windows XP will
not convert a FAT32 drive to NTFS all by itself.....someone must have
made the attempt. In any case, have your friend try a "Repair Install".

The first partition of the hard drive is/was where the OEM recovery files
were located.. the partition would normally be hidden and for good reason..
deletion of this partition will require that a retail version of XP will
have to be purchased such that XP can be reloaded..
