adding a background

So I have a corporate pitch that has a bbackground that was created by
someone other than me. How can i create a new slide and have the background
carry over to it. The background is not visible in the slide master view.

One way is to duplicate a slide that has a background that you want and then
edit it, i.e. delete the existing objects and add new ones.

Sonia, that is what I used to do but in the new issue the background does not
copy over.

Are you using Insert > Duplicate slide? Oh, are you copying from one
presentation to another? If so, when you paste the slide there is a little icon
that you need to click on. It gives you the options to keep the format, which
is what you want to select.
