JPG Backgrounds, Themes, and Default Background Choices

Christine

I am currently taking existing PPT 2000 Templates and making Themes for all
of them in 2007 (running XP).

One of the templates comes in two versions (grey or red) and each template
has a choice of two different title slide backgrounds and on general slide
background.

I have the original jpgs for these backgrounds and would like to be able to
have all six of them populate in the choices for backgrounds in the theme.

So far the only way I have found to do this is just make two master slides
in the theme w/ each master slide having two title slides and to not have the
backgrounds as choices.

Twice I have tried to add three of the six JPG backgrounds to the Theme
using the Theme Builder and twice I have gotten an "Unhandled Exception" box
pop up telling me that it "Cannot add part for specified URI because it is
already in the package."

Any thoughts??

Thanks,
Christine

Yeah, you have to use the theme builder utility if you want the images to
show up as background style choices.

I can't look at it for a few days, probably, but if you want to shoot the
files you're working with my way, I can try to see what happens here.

Make sure you're not using a CMYK JPG -- that's the only thing I can think
offhand that would crash the thing.

Otherwise, I think your workaround of using two masters is the best way
around it.

Thanks Echo!

I will double check the JPGs (they were from a corporate brand) today.

So I'm guessing we can only set three files as backgrounds in the theme?...
or is there a way to add more than that in the Theme Builder?

Not that I'm aware. You'd have to create extra layouts or masters for those.
