Add/Remove Windows Components Not Working

P

Pat O.

I am running XP Pro with all the latest SP and
Hotfixes. When I go into Add/Remove Programs in the
Control Panel and select Add/Remove Windows Components,
the configuring Windows Components Wizard starts up right
away, runs its course, and it gets to the Finish screen.
If I press Finish, the Wizzard closes and I am returned
to the Add/Remove Programs screen. This process will
continue over and over each time I select Add/Remove
Windows Components. I have tried restarting the PC many
times, and ensuring the Windows disk is avalible while
the wizzard runs, but no luck. This did not occur after
adding a windows component but rather before I was able
to get to the screen to add a component. I can add or
remove other programs, just not windows components.
Please help!!

After the wizard closes, it is supposed to return to the Add/Remove screen,
to see if you want another selection.
If you are done selecting, just click the X to return to the desktop.

I have this problem, too. It does not give you a chance to make any changes
to your windows components. It just runs the "setup" and kicks you back to
the previous tab selected. Please help, if anyone has the answer.
