Add/Remove Programs Issue - Need advice for DC

Recently after installing GoodLink and an Exchange patch I recently
encountered problems with my add/remove programs in the Control Panel. This
error would appear:
res://appwiz.cpl/listbox.htc
Line:225

I click OK and at the top of the list it states "no programs installed"
however if i scroll down I see all my programs. Although the programs are
there all buttons change or remove are disabled. Aside from this everything
works fine however my fear is that this may present a problem on the server
down the road.

I have done everything in article http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=266668
just short of the in-place upgrade which I'm hesitant to do on a AD server.

I've read the cautions for in-place upgrades in various MS articles however
TechRepublic articles say the in-place upgrade "will not" change my DC to a
member server.

Can anyone that has actually ran an in-place upgrade on a server tell me
what I can expect, provide any solid advice or offer an alternative fix?

I plan to work on this issue this weekend and any opinions from my peers
would be greatly appreciated.

not sure if it'll help but try

from a CMD prompt

SFC /PURGECACHE

press enter

then

SFC /SCANNOW

press enter, it'll probably want the OS CD

Steve, I thank you for your advice. After having run the SFC utility we
appeared to hang after the restart (roughly 20 minutes before deciding to
restart). We opted to restart into safe mode to review any errors in the
logs. We re-enabled services we had disabled prior to running the SFC.exe
and restarted. Voila, we came up and everything was perfect.

Thank you again your advice was most helpful.
