Add Remove Programs Does not work

I have a windows 2000 server and when I try to click on the add remove
programs in control panel nothing happens( No error messages in event log
either). I checked and found that appwiz.cpl file exists on the computer and
nothing happens even on double clicking that.
I tried running sfc /purgecache and sfc /scannow from command prompt and now
it has two Add remove programs in control panel and both of them do not work.

Any suggestions ???
