Ad/Remove Programs

Trying to remove old Norton Antivirus so I can install newer version and when
I go to Ad/Remove...it's not there but when I try to install new version it
won't install because it says prior version need to be removed first. When I
open Windows Explore C:\program files it is there??

You may need to un-install the old Norton AV from the CD-Rom of the
newer version. When it senses an older version present, it is supposed
to ask whether it should uninstall (and if so, try to keep your
personalized settings). But if that doesn't work, symantec's website
has some even more elaborate ways.

Frankly, I found it so complicated to install a simple application --
and I was even willing to pay symantec their "we won't talk to mere
customers without paying a fee" charge, just so I didn't have to waste
any more time with it. But even the tech (sic) couldn't get it to work.

In the end, I found it so cumbersome that I gave up and am just using
the free ZoneAlarm firewall, and haven't had a virus since.

Anyone like to buy a copy of Norton Personal Firewall 2004? (Cheap).

No. Sorry. This behavior is a Norton issue. Did you reinstall the Op sys
by any chance?
