I tried to uninstall a program that had no uninstall portion associated with
it.
I used the "Add / Remove Programs" in the control pannel and got a message
"Setup cannot be installed because there was a problem authenticating your
Microsoft Windows Installer."
I have the newest Microsoft recommended version of Windows Installer and it
worked / works with any and all other programs.
I have downloaded the WICU (Windows Installer Clean Up) program and used it
to remove Norton Systwem Works from its list.
I e-mailed the tech support for the program and got several solutions that
did not help me to remove the program. I am now stuck with a program
which after a year of trying to remove I took it upon myself to DELETE it
from the hard drive.
I have most of it removed execpt: There are some registry items that I
cannot remove.
I get " Cannot delete -Symantec- CommonClient.ccSetMgr.SettingsService:
Error while deleting key."
This error message occurs for every leftover registry key that I try to
delete.
I can not install any part or portion of a newer version of this program or
re-install the same version of the program, when I try to install a newer
version or re-install the same version I get the message "Setup cannot be
installed because there was a problem authenticating your Microsoft Windows
Installer." .
When I go the Control Pannel the program is still listed there, when I try to
remove it I get the message "Setup cannot be installed because there was a
problem authenticating your Microsoft Windows Installer."
Is there a way to "completely" remove the parts and portions of the program
that I attempted to delete?
