Ok, this is driving me crazy. Every time I go to certain sites (www.slashdot.org always does it) I get the following script errors
- Scripts are usually safe. do you want to allow scripts to ru
- Do you want to allow software such as ActiveX controls and plug-ins to run
- A script is accessing som software (an ActiveX control) on this page which has been marked safe for scripting. Do you want to allow this
I've changed the security settings from Low to Medium to High, and I'm still getting the messages
I also did the following suggestion that I found on microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6.browser
===================================
There are several sites (including mine that provide a Registry file tha
adds many of the known parasites to the "Restricted Zone", thus preventin
them from running unwanted ActiveX or Java Scripts. (and other nast
things!
When this occurs, you will see that message. You will also see that messag
when your Security settings are set too high, or certain functions ar
disabled. Usually I recommend the following for at least minimal protection
Close all instances of IE and O
Control Panel | Internet Option
Click on the "Security" ta
Highlight the "Internet" icon, click "Custom Level
1) "Download signed ActiveX scripts" = Promp
2) "Download unsigned ActiveX scripts = Disabl
3) "Initialize and script ActiveX not marked as safe" = Disabl
4) "Installation of Desktop items" = Promp
5) "Launching programs and files in a IFRAME" = Promp
Click on the "Content" ta
Click the "Publishers" butto
Highlight and click "Remove" any unknowns, click O
Click on the "Advanced" ta
Uncheck: "Install on demand (other)", click Apply\O
===================================
This didn't work either. I have also gone into the Advanced tab in Internet Options and both enabled and disabled "Display script debugging" and "Display a notification about every script error"
I have also scanned my system with Norton Anti-Virus and Ad-Aware, but it didn't find anything. I did find information about an old worm that sounds similar to the problem that I'm having: http://vil.nai.com/vil/content/v_98854.ht
Anyone have any ideas
Thanks
