Activex control not downloading on IE 6.0 (With or without SP1)

Hi,

I have been trying to download an activex control of a tool, which basically
depicts details in pictorial representation.

When I searched in the microsft support I did find some information at this
link <http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;323207>,
however this specifies that the problem is with IE 5.5 SP2, however I find
the issue to be existant on IE 6.0 as well. I have also seen that the tool I
am using does use "Post" method request. When I tried the work around given
in the above said link, the activex works perfectly fine.

Can somebody help me with the following questions,

1. Is this issue fixed with IE 6.0 or is still existant?
2. Is the work around that is mentioned safe?
3. Are there any workarounds other than the one mentioned in the above link?
4. Does installing of any patch fix this issue?

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Krishna

Hi again,

Just wanted to add that I have made the respective changes in the Tools->
Internet Options -> Internet /Local Intranet...

1. Have set download unsigned activex control to prompt
2. Have set download signed activex control to prompt
3. Enable Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins
4. Enable Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting
5. Enable Active scripting
6. Allow stored and per-session cookies

Only Once I delete the entry in the registry, given in the workaround, I can
see the activex control box popping up.

Please Help!!!!

Krishna
