HI,
my brother loaded my dad's XP upgrade on to his own
computer with out realizing that the license agreement is
for 1 pc only. He let the activation grace period run
out and now can't activate. Is there any thing we can do
to revert back to 98 or even just retrieve some of his
saved info?
Thanx.

Go out and purchase a new copy of Windows XP
and proceed with a "Repair Install".

1. Delete the Windows XP partition.
2. Create a new partition.
3. Format the new partition FAT32.
4. Install your desired Operating System.

If you had windows 98. Start xp in safe mode F8.
Add/remove programs.
Choose uninstall XP.
That should work.

That's if you backed up the files.

Still back up your data.

I thought Microsoft gave people an Option to buy a license for a
second computer because of the confusion between xp & Microsoft
office. I guess that only for the retail version.
