Hey, I wanted to format my HDD because i had so much junk on there. I went
and used the Manufacturers cd's that came with this laptop to do it, but they
werent woking anymore, saying "Wrong Machine" So my friend lent me his pro cd
and i used that to install it. When i try to use my pro cd key (located on
the bottom of my laptop) is says i have typed it incorrectly (which i didnt).
y is this happening?

Is your friends PRO CD an OEM version?

The OEM Product Key affixed to your OEM computer
is only valid with the computer manufacturer's recovery
method. You'll need to contact the computer manufacturer
and order the proper Windows XP recovery CD. Otherwise,
you'll need to purchase a conventional "Full Version" of
Windows XP.

Product Keys are bound to the specific type and language of CD
and/or license (OEM, Volume, retail, full, or Upgrade) with which they
are purchased. For example, a WinXP Home OEM Product Key won't work for
any retail version of WinXP Home, or for any version of WinXP Pro, and
vice versa. An upgrade's Product Key cannot be used with a full version
CD, and vice versa. An OEM Product Key will not work to install a
retail product. An Italian Product Key will not work with an English
CD. Bottom line: Product Keys and CD types cannot be mixed & matched.
