Activating Windows XP

I took a hard drive with Windows XP installed on it and put it into a new
computer, as my old one died. The problem I'm having now is that the system
wants me to activate Windows again. It was activated when I installed Windows
on the HD a few weeks ago but now the product key is not being accepted. How
can I correct this problem. I only have one day left to activate.

If it's an OEM install then I think you can't activate it again, it's tied
to the hardware it is first installed on.

For any other kind of install, you'll want to activate by phone and if
needed wait to speak to someone to explain what happened.

Ordinarily this is not done, as parts of XP are hardware specific to the
original PC it was installed on.
