Hi,
I have users (Power User rights) that are having issues accessing a program.
the program is called Teleforms by Cardiff. According to support staff at
Cardiff. All a user needs is Power User rights and they can access the
application.
When a user double clicks on the program nothing happens. It does not run.
If the user then goes to their PC and connects to the server via Remote
Desktop (with their own acct) they are able to access and use the
application. Nothing has been changed. Why is it that they can access the
program from Remote Desktop but when they are sitting in from of the server
trying to access the program nothing happens?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.. toeknee

Did you check the local file permissions to see that they were power users
depending on which way they access the file? You could add local
authenticated users to the powers group. Just an idea? ;/

Hi Ken,

Thanks for the suggestion. The PowerUsers group has full control of the
directory and files that it needs. I added the Authicated Users but that
didn't seem to help any.

This could be a silly answer, but did you try to launch the program from
the installed directory via the executable, or via a shortcut somewhere?
I've seen it before where people have mistakenly created the shortcut as
an administrator in the All Users folder, but the permissions were miss
set on the shortcut itself. I doubt that is the case, but I thought it
worth mentioning.

Hi Ken,

Yeah I tried that and it still didn't work. I just find it odd that the
program works for the user when they are signed into the server via a REMOTE
DESKTOP CONNECTION but if they are signed in and sitting in from of the
server it does not work. I could get it to work if I want to give them
ADMINISTRATIVE rights but that isn't really an option.
Is there a setting somewhere that I am overlooking that allows users with a
Terminal connection more rights?

I'm sorry I can't think of anything. I'll keep watching the thread to see
if you get an answer, and I'll query the guys at work tomorrow and see if
they can make any suggestions.
