Is this the correct newsgroup for questions about Windows Accessibility
Features such as the Magnifier? If so, the screen magnifier in Windows XP
is somewhat deficient. It only allows a separate window that magnifies
wherever the mouse cursor is located. However, it's difficult to even see
where you are putting your mouse cursor if you are suffering from low vision
(macular degeneration). Is it possible to magnify the entire screen (in all
programs) instead of just a separate window process? I believe this is
possible in Windows Vista but then I run into the problem of compatibility
with my current PC, my current software, etc. I am trying to avoid an
expensive process just to be able to see.

do not believe there is even a 3rd party program that will magnify the entire screen.

seems it would defeat the purpose as you would then need to move the screen around to see.

might try using the lowest resolution you can stand and the highest font size to go along wit it.

There are a lot of 3rd party programs. They can be set to follow the mouse
cursor to scroll sideways and up & down so that you do not have to
constantly move the mouse to the side scroll bars to change the center of
the screen. Unfortunately, these programs usually cost over $400 which can
be prohibitive to a senior on a fixed income.

Open display properties,settings tab,advanced,adapter,list all
modes.Depending
on youre current setting,a setting of 800x600 from say 1152x864 will get
youre
items on screen larger,the size actually shrinks but what is visable,one will
get a magnified look..You'll need to play with it,also,try microsoft "clear
type"
it gives better images of whats being viewed...
