access by AOL

I have Microsoft Internet Explorer6 and it is provided by
America Online. How do I get internet explorer to give me
access other than by Aol or how can I get access using IE
6 from MS. I do not use AOL, except for my son who uses it
for instant messenger.

It shouldn't matter that it is provided by aol. but if
you can only sign on through aol, (try getting on to ie
without aol,) go to tools->internet options->click on the
connections tab at the top->click aol or america online
if it is there and click delete->click never dial a
connection->and if you have dsl or cable (high-speed
connection) click lan settings at the bottom->make sure
all the checks are cleared except automatically detect
settings.
