Can anyone help, I use a piece of software (Access 97) to send pension
contributions, since installing access 2003 it is not working it won't open
the files.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening or how I can fix it? the install
cd for the sofware sets it up to look for access 97 in the program files on
C:Drive do I need to redirect it to 2003 or will this never work?

If it is an MDB file then 2003 should be able to run it. If it is an MDE file
then it won't be able to .

Steely,
Can you be more specific about "it won't open the files"... any error messages?
Try opening Access 97 itself, then using File/Open... to open a file you know is V97.
Does that work?

Thanks for your help Rick much appreciated.

It is an MDE file, well, I think that part of the standard submission ID
data comes from the MDW file but all of the information I need to update is
in the MDE file.

Does this mean I have to re-install 97 in order for this program to work?

Thanks again

Pretty much. A 97 MDE cannot be run by any other version.

Thanks for your response

the error message is

"was unable to
inialize Windows Registry. Rerun MS Access or MS Office setup to
reinstall"

The other post says that mde files wont work on 2003 any ideas would be
greatly appreciated!

Rick Brandt is correct...
If you didn't backup your original .mdb files your in a real bind.
MDE can not be "automagically" returned to MDB
If you still have your MDB files, you should be able to convert them to 2003 and the
create MDEs again that will run under 2003.
