Hello,

I have 97 and 2003 Access installed and want to have 97 as default to open
all .MDB files. I have tried to use open with option which does not change
to 97 enen though I browsed to 97 file and select it.

Can any one help, please?

Thanks.

Access 2003 checks it's installation every time it is started. To avoid
problems with viruses, the Access 2003 installation is signed and the
signature is encrypted, so it is not possible to change the Access 2003
installation.

You can change the 97 installation, so that 97 is never the default, but
you can't change the 2003 installation.

It is possible to use the Open With list, there are scores of different
ways to get things into that list, only a few of which don't work correctly.
Have a look in the registry at .txt and .mp3 to get some ideas.

I don't do it that way, I open A97 first when I want to open A97, I use
a shortcut for files I open often, and I think that changing the file name
from .mdb to something else would be easier than worrying about 2003.

David,

Thanks for your detail answer. I understand it now. I used to open all
files with open with option. But now I have to change my opening habit to
drag the file to 97 access or open the access first and than open the
respective file. Again, appreciate you time and comments.

Regards,
Manan
