I'm just getting familiar with XP, and I'm having trouble
putting my computer in standby mode. Each time I try, I
get the following error message:

"the device driver for the 'Standard 101/102-Key or
Microsoft natural PS/2 Keyboard' device is preventing the
machine from entering standby..."

Any idea how to solve this problem? I had the same
problem using my IBM laptop running Windows 2000..

Thanks

Your lap top is probably using APM (advanced power management) To use stand
by or hibernate the machine needs to run ACPI (advanced configuration and
power interface). If you go to control panel and click on Power Options and
you have an APM tab then ou are using the advanced power management. If you
are using ACPI then you should see an Hibernate tab.
Without entering your laptops bios it is difficult to say whether your
system can support ACPI. You would really need to check your bios and see if
there is an option in the power management section. Sometimes the APM is
enabled by default and needs to be changed to ACPI. If your motherboard
already has this enabled windows xp will usually install the correct
drivers.

Hope this helps
