A file that is required to run Search Companion cannot be found

When I tried to perform Windows XP Professional Search I got the yellow
triangle and "A file that is required to run search companion cannot be
found. You may need to run setup." error message. I am unable to perform any
search.

I follow the Microsoft instructions of
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q319949

I performed method #2 - downloaded hotfix
Q319949_WXP_SP1_x86_ENU.exe
and got srchui.dll (size 798,782 March 25, 2002) in the c:\windows\srchasst
folder

I also performed method #3
c:\windows\inf\srchasst.inf and install using the Windows XP CD-ROM disc
I also check the c:\windows\srchasst\mui\0409
for the file balloon.xsl and bar.xsl and lclsrch.xml, open with notepad and
make sure the files are not corrupted.

I also followed instructions in:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_search.htm
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_srch_file_missing.htm

I make sure I am not connect to the internet when I perform Search.
Well, I still unable to perform search and still get the same file cannot be
found message.

Done.
executed sfc /scannow with Mircosoft XP Professional CD-ROM
Did not ask me to replace anything (lot of retry), but program finished and
closed.

But lo-and-behold, search is now working.

Thank you.
