2007 Outlook will not Open

I am running MS Office Basic 2007, on xp system

Outlook has been working fine until yesterday, now I can not get into it.

When I click to open it - I get the following message -
Outlook failed to start correctly last time. Starting Outlook in safe mode
will help you correct or isolate a startup problem in order to successfully
start the program.
Some functionality may be disabled in this mode.

Do you want to start in safe mode?

When I click yes I get a message that says:
Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close.

When I select Send Error Report -
I get the following message -
Outlook failed to open in safe mode. Do you want to detect and repair?

When I select Yes - it runs a program and at the end says
Microsoft Office basic 2007 Setup completed sucessfully.

When I try again to open Outlook - I get the same messages and it I can't
get them to go away.

I have tried to reinstall and made sure I have all the lastes updates - what
is wrong

Thanking you in advance for some help.

it could be the to-do bar or navigation pane - its hard to say without
knowing the error that kicked it into safe mode.

I'd try starting outlook with the /resettodobar switch - if that doesn't
work, start outlook with the /resetnavpane switch. See
http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/switches.htm for help using these
switches.
