2003 Server Fax Console "Mail to..." prompts Mail system DLL is invalid

I

Ian Ho

On my 2003 Server, Route thourgh email works, but "Mail to.." in fax console
prompts Mail system DLL is invalid. I don't have Outlook installed on the
server, is it a must to install Outlook to use "Mail to"?

Thanks
Ian

Outllook is not essential for using mailto.

You probably have a wrong version of mapi32.dll on your system. Did you ever
install Exchange server on the affected system? Check the version of
mapi32.dll - it should be 1.0.2536.0. If it is different, just replace this
file from any other 2003 server and things should work.

To see the file version, open %windir%\system32 in explorer, open the file
properties, goto version tab.

the problem i have is similar, but since it's small business server 2003 and the mapi was likely upgraded by a service pack, i'm hesitant to replace the mapi dll. is there a place i can download it from? our SBS2003 server is our only windows 2003 server.
