I've tried 2 different 2Kpro disks, and everytime it
boots to the setup it hangs on the "Loading Machine
Identification Data" Screen... When it gets to the
screen, the floppy drive whirls up, then just stays green
(the light) and nothing happens....

anybody have any ideas?

its a new computer with a new HD. i'm loading setup from
the CD.. please help!

Tommy.

You might want to check the pc or mb manufacturer's web site for an updated
bios version. Also try removing all non-essential hardware, get through the
install, then ADD the hardware back in one at a time.

Ok, i updated the bios. but still no go. there are no
cards or anything to remove.. its an MSI KM4M board, with
video and everything built-in.... so... any other
options? please?

thanks.

UDMA controller? You'll need to boot the Windows 2000 setup disks or CD-Rom
and *F6* very early and very important (at setup is inspecting your system)
in the setup to prevent drive controller detection, and select S to specify
additional drivers. Then later you'll be prompted to insert the Windows 2000
driver for your UDMA controller in drive "A"

If you wait and then S to specify additional drivers, then it may be too
late as Windows 2000 Setup at this point may have already assigned the
resources your drive's controller is wanting to use.

Ok, nevermind.. problem resolved.. it was the memory.

despite the fact the computer booted, and showed the full
amount of memory, the stick must have either been bad, or
had something wrong.... after installing a different
stick, W2k installed just fine.

thank you for all your help though :)
