Win2k setup hangs/freezes

Fred

I have a aopen motherboard with an AMD Athlon Xp2000
processor, 160GB Western Digital HD, 256 DDR ram, and a
NEC DVD ND-1300A drive.
Windows 98 installs from the CD with no problems.
Windows 2000 hangs/freezes when it reaches the last setup
screen - Setup is now starting Windows 2000.
BIOS for the motherboard is the latest version.

Frustrated, Fred

Try taking out any hardware you don't need. If you can, try changing the CD
ROM drive as well

Jonathan's response is a good first step. Have you
verified that all your hardware in on the Microsoft HCL?

If you have W98 installed, you can put in the W2K CD and
run [CD Drive Letter]:\SETUP.EXE /checksetuponly. This
will not install W2K but force W2K to perform an analysis
of your system and print the results in a text file for
your review.
