I just downloaded and installed numerous 2000 updates including Media Player
9. Shut down to reboot so updates would take effect, however pc would not
boot up and now hangs. Absolutly no screens showing, and can't get into safe
mode. No recognition of the 2000 cd disc either. Any help is appreciated.

If your screen is totally dark then your problem is
not related to Windows but to hardware. Try another
monitor, and if this does not help, try posting in a
hardware group.

Had the same trouble with an Intel MB. As a former TV tech, I remembered that
the computer really is only on standby with everything ready to go. That is
poisonous - so switch off at the back of the computer or the power point, leave
it off for 20-30 seconds then switch back on and boot at the front if necessary.

Problem fixed. Turns out this machine has dual monitor drivers and
connections. Switching connections, rebooting in safe mode, and removing new
software solved the problem. Thanks for your help.
