W2K Pro will not boot up

I have a machine that all of a suddon will not boot up. It thas been shut down and not used for about a month now. When I try to boot it up normaly, it hangs on the starting window 2000 screen. I have tried to boot using the last know good profile. That also hangs at the same spot. I am able to get it to boot up in safe mode. I just can not get it to boot up normaly.

Did you happen to install a cheap analogic modem? If so, take it off, go to
safe mode and make sure it isn't unders Device Manager and see if it will
boot up then.

Try doing a check disk and defrag in Safe Mode then.

It does not have anything like that installed on it. Nothing new has been

installed on it since the last successful boot.

Just tried defrag and check disk. It is still hanging at the same place.

All the devices in Device Manager. are OK? Do you have MSCONFIG (if not, go
here to download it http://www2.whidbey.com/djdenham/Msconfig.htm)? If so,
untick the entries in your Start Up tab one at a time.
