16 bit Windows Subsystem

When I try to install programs from CD's, I get a pop up window (headed with
my subject) and it says -
C;|Windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running
MS_DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate
application. It is followed by two buttons - close ignore. No matter which I
choose nothing happens. Is there a solution for this?
