?when i turn on my computer it takes around 15 min before i can use it,
starts okay get the flash screen then windows but then takes about 10 min
before i get the welcome screen then another 5 before i can use it, was
working fine took about 2-3 to work last time i used it and i didn't install
anything but the next time i turned it on i had this problem, have run norton
anti virus and system works, pc- doctor and registry mechanic, ad-aware and
defrag but no help and to make matters worse system restore does not work, I
had this problem about 2 months ago and had to do a full reinstall which
worked but cant understand why it has happened again for no obvious reason,
any ideas on what might be causing it and weather using the repair faacility
on the windows xp disc would be worth trying

here is one problem: norton anti virus and system works

Norton has fame to slow down the computer, i was using norton for about 3
years but a change because the time taken to load my system and desktop

the other is here:

pc- doctor and registry mechanic: Here many people have different opinions,
I am the kind that i don't like to use registry cleaner(any kind) those
software delete keys from the regestry causing more damage that good
You can repair the os:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/doug92.mspx

http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm

now you need to check for programs that are loading during the the start up
and remove those that you system don't need

Start run Type or copy/paste: msconfig (press enter)
go to services at the end of the window is a box "Hide all Microsoft
Services" check here and you have a list of services out of the system that
are runing uncheck those that are no requiere ( apply change), now go to
startup tab and do the same..
There are some registry keys modification but all above first...

Get rid of Norton, PC Doctor, and Registry Mechanic to fix your problem.

Also get rid of all that other useless crap you've set to run 24/7.
