100% CPU after remove of msblaster.exe

Hi All,

I have a W2K-P, sp4 computer that caught the Blaster virus.
I went into "safe mode, command prompt" and deleted
c:\winnt\system32\mblast.exe. Then, I installed SP4 and the
M$ RPC exploit patch (KB823980). And, scanned with an updated
McAfee (dat 4288) and Stinger 1.8.4.

Problem. The machine is now running real slow. Task Manager's
performance tab shows 100% CPU usage. And, the Task Manager's
Processes tab shows "System Idle Process" at 97%. Weird! Takes
forever to print too.

Does anyone know what is going on?

Many thanks,

I'm afraid you didn't do all of what Symantec said to do in the sequence
they talk about and also do a lookup for "Welchia" an be careful to follow
the instructions carefully. If it says to disconnect you modem, good idea,
or whatever the specifics are whichever.

thanks,
don
