I'm thinking of upgrading the desktop which is Win XP home from USB
1.1 to 2.0. Before I do this though I'd like to install SP2. I've got the
disk from MS and plan to visit the appropriate sites on adequate preparation
before installing SP2.
From what I understand about USB 2.0 is that the drivers needed are on the
SP2 disk. Is this correct?
So far it seems like the upgrade in USB is fairly simple. Get a Belkin
or some other name brand of PCI card, open up the case, slide in the card
in the PCI slot and power up the machine again. Let windows find the drivers
and away you go.
Any good sites that detail the installation of USB 2.0 that I might
have missed?

Does not appear so.

Windows XP SP1 also supports USB 2.0. You can install the USB 2.0 PCI card
either before or after you install SP-2. IMO, you should install the USB
card first. I assume your computer is operating without any known problems.
By installing the new card on "good" system any unlikely problems can be
isolated to the card installation and corrected. Then follow the
suggestions from Microsoft (Windows Update) for preparing your system to
install SP-2.
