USBSCAN.SYS is a kernel mode driver required for the connectivity between
your USB scanner device and Windows computer.

First check to see if the file is where is belongs on your computer. From
Explorer, goto your windows\system32\drivers directory. Is the file there?
If yes, then there is something wrong with your HP software and I recommend
you get the lastest HP drivers from HP's web site for the device.

If the file is missing, well, it is always installed with the operating
system. I have no idea how one could loose this on there system, but here is
how to get it back: On your Windows CD, search for the file "usbscan.sys"
and the results should find the "usbscan.sys" file. Copy this to your
windows\system32\drivers directory.

You should be al set now.

good luck!
