Viewing History Items in IE

I can't access the history items in IE. I think it's
because I downloaded a stupid program that I cannot
delete called "surfghost". It was supposed to help me get
rid of pop-up ads but it was bothersome and I went to
uninstall it. Now I cannot see the history items. The
computer gives me a folder called history then the file
index.dat. My index.dat file is now stored in a file
called surfghost, in the program files and I can't remove
it no matter what. Help? Anyone?

Lucy,
This was discussed recently at SpywareInfo.com. Here's the thread:
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php?showtopic=12379&st=15
The solution appears to have been to download DrDelete from
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,7374516~root=sware~mode=flat
Use that to delete the SurfGhost Program Files folder, then use your
registry editor to find and delete any reference to SurfGhost (*after*
exporting a backup copy of the registry!)
Registry editing can be hazardous to your system. If you're not familiar
with the process, please get help.

Hope this helps,
Don
