IE history shows non-internet items

Just noticed that the history dislpayed in Internet Explorer shows a number
of items opened with other programs, such as Windows Explorer. Is this
supposed to happen? Is there any way to confine the IE history just to
those items opened by IE? TIA,

Unless your an employee of Microsoft and have access the the Windows Source
code then I think your out of luck on this one. Just to ease your mind a
little, I can say I share your disgust with the issue as well.

What happens if you set History's View by site (Ctrl-h,Alt-w,i)
navigate to My Computer (e.g. type my), then press Menu,D?

Note: I haven't tried this myself since I have no interest in not seeing
local files in the AutoSuggest list but it seems like a logical place to start.

However, also note that MS has already published a KB article which
implies that we shouldn't expect too much generality from the Delete
function in the History bar.

<title>KB218966 - History Items Remain After Being Deleted from Cache</title>

Hmm... this might be another caveat, particularly for what I am suggesting:

<title>KB250696 - Deleting the My Computer Folder from the History List Clears All the History Contents of the Day</title>

YMMV.

Good luck
