Unbuntu is a piece of crap!

Good question Charlie. I see that Matrox has some Linux drivers for
P750's dated July 13,2006.
Did Ubuntu know about these drivers, or do they even care or will they
even work with Ubuntu?
Frank

What a Wintard! WTF has Ubuntu got to do with proprietary Matrox drivers? Do
you expect Windoze to supply drivers for your card? Of course not, you use
the manufacturer's drivers. If you know anything about computers, you'd go
and get the drivers from Matrox and install them.

As I said in another post, Vista may have a lot of graphic eye candy, but
we look at our screens
a lot when we're at a computer, so it's worth it to have a nice looking
graphic interface.

I applaud Vista for up-ing the bar when it comes to making better looking
desktop graphics.
It's long overdue. Here is where Vista clearly surpases the Mac.
By your own admission, you just gave a quick glance at Ubuntu. Ubuntu, as
all Linux distros is very configurable. There is no other operating system
that is as configurable. One can make it look exactly like OSX if that is
what turns your crank. A window manager like E17 is probably the most
beautiful looking desktop one can run today and that is easily setup on
Linux. Running Beryl, a 3d desktop blows all other desktops out of the
water and installing Beryl on Ubuntu involves clicking the mouse. Vista
doesn't come close to the functionality one gets with Beryl. If you did a
little research you'd find that Linux excels in configurability, hence
looking at screenshots of those who have configured their systems will show
you that Linux can look like pretty much anything you want it to, include
<gulp> Vista.

Here's a Ubuntu Beryl desktop running ... should give you some idea of the
possibilities ...

Dr. Frank, so I guess an innocent man should proclaim his guilt by your
irrational logic. Maybe we need to bring on the Spanish Inquisition and get
some real torture happening, so the innocent proclaim their guilt? <snort>

Like I said before, nice toy, if that's what you're after.
But if you want to be productive, Vista rules!

I hate to burst your bubble Doris [sic], but Vista did install the
correct Matrox P750 drivers on initial install. No problem!
Urbuttoo failed miserably. I guess a toy like urbuttoo is all you need
for what you do.

I take it you haven't installed yesterday's updates for Vista. Be sure
and install the IE7 update. And, if you can, report back.

Wrong! Sorry to disappoint your stupid ass but the update didn't hose
anything on my systems!
I actually believe that particular update is affecting only certain
pre-installed versions of Vista.
I custom build all of our systems and completely flatten the HDD on the
new laptops and start from scratch.
I haven't used a pre-installed os since the early '90's.

Your belief appears to be incorrect. IE7 (Vista & XP) and Winmail are
affected. Not everyone of course, but enough to raise concern.

Hummm...we don't use Winmail, aka Outlook Express. Never have and never
will, although I understand MS is in the process of replacing it. It
could be the culprit causing all the problems.

My system is home built. All of my computers since 1991 have been so. I
believe that there are interactions between the update and other software
installed. I am going to go back to a pristine image and install the updates
and see what happens.

What I post here has nothing whatsoever to do with religion. You trying
to change the subject by trying to denigrate my religious beliefs is
pathetic and only shows your desperation and lack of respect.

So your entire critique on linux is that is looks good? It can be
