The message could not be deleted

I'm getting this problem in my Inbox.
I tried moving all email from it so as to leave only the damaged message in
it, and then tried to delete the folder but it didn't work.
I also tried removing the sender from my contact list and even if I could do
that I could not delete the message.
I also closed the preview pane already - nothing.
I should also mention that this is happening with my @gmail account, and
that I am getting the message in Spanish because my Vista is in Spanish.
Thank you,

Same problem for me. Till now, no solution. I always have the same message
when I send mails : "no valid account...".
If you receive any info don't hesitate to contact me.
Thank you.

I'd suggest upgrading to the new Windows Live Mail beta,
but I think it only comes in English for now.
If anyone knows differently, please speak up.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Beside that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail.

If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no
instances of it under applications or processes.
Then click Start | Search | Advanced Search
Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.

Cannot bring up www.oehelp.com/WMUtil. Message is that address is wrong.
Cannot delete message. I am using Vista Ultimate. None of the suggestions
work. Is Microsoft doing anything to help with this wide spread problem?

Try clicking on this link which should work:

http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx

Make sure to read the entire page on how to correctly use the program. Good
luck.

I tried Jim's option because it seemed more into que extent of my abilities
but I am sorry to report it didn't work.
I may need to dare with Frank's option... but as he said, I should only try
it if I just can't stand seeing this email stuck in my bin, which is
something I may get used to.
My antivirus is neither McAfee nor Norton.

Define "it did not work", the "it" presumably being the WMUtil program.
Was there an error message, or were the buttons grayed out?

WMUtil only works on the Outbox, not the Inbox.

Try reading the instructions.

FAO Steve Cochran

Perhaps you could make the instructions even BIGGER?

Perhaps add an instruction to read the instructions?
and more distinct.

<sigh>
I said to read all the instructions, didn't I?

Hold down the Ctrl and Shift keys while you press the Escape key.
On the Applications tab make sure WinMail is not running.
On the Processes tab make sure WinMail is not running.
Now try WMUtil.

Hello Frank
I am having the same problem with an email i can't delete, tried to delete
both of them from the database like you suggested, but could only do one of
them. When i tried to delete the second one it comes up with the message
"This action cannot be completed because the file is open in another program"
Bit stuck as what to do now
Any advice would be appreciated, thank you

I want to know how to delete the stuck emails from my Inbox, not my Outbox.

First... Good manners cost nothing.

Second...

This has been answered countless times on this forum
but since you are disinclined to look for the answer yourself
I've looked it up for you...

Here's a solution from Frank...

"If you are not willing to just ignore them, the only way is to delete both
copies of the database (which does not contain the messages, but only
references to them) and let WinMail rebuild it.
First close WinMail, then use Task Manager to make sure there are no

Check the box to include non-indexed, hidden and system files.
In the Name field type WindowsMail.MSMessageStore and click the Search
button.
It should show you two copies. Delete both of them and re-open WinMail.
WinMail will work in the background and recover all of the messages that are
really there."

If I were you I'd also take this opportunity to dump the redundant WM
and install its replacement.... http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas

Further if you run Norton or McAfee uninstall them
and use a Vista compatible anti-virus instead
(before Norton or McAfee screws your system.)
Here are two free Vista compatible products...
Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
AVG http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0

Happy now?

(You damned well should be...
you could easily be charged $100
for far worse support than offered freely here!)

This is getting absurd, when are they going to fix this? I have well over
twenty messages clogging up my inbox, 1 in my outbox and a bunch that will
not delete from my deleted folder. What is the problem? I used Outlook
Express for years without issues. I don't have a problem with software bus,
they happen, but why is Microsoft not responding to this!!!!
