Splash Screen Changed After SP2

Mike,

I removed service pack 2 the day after it was installed because of the
missing version
name (in this case Professional). As far as the copyright dates, that has to
change due to the advancement of time. I never said no "real work" was
involved in service pack 2, and I would gladly reinstall it when and if there
is a fix for the splash screen. In the
meantime I will have to depend on third party software for security. On the
point of stability, Windows XP Professional is the most stable Windows OS I
have ever used.
So if you can give me any real help with this issue rather than being
defensive, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Bobby

Bobby,

Why do you feel that removing the SP2 was necessary, simply because we chose
to remove the word Professional from a cosmetic feature that provides no
significant value to you the end user; but that small change allow us to
focus our development and testing efforts on real areas such as the
thousands of changes made to the millions of lines of code and new
features/enhancements in SP2.

There will be no "fix" for the splash screen as it is not broken. The
change is by design.

To remove the SP because of a cosmetic zero impact change is not a sensible
action.
