XP SPLASH SCREEN CHANGED AFTER SP2

Has anyone else experienced the removal of the word
professional from the XP splash screen following
installation of SP2? Is this normal? Anyone know why?

Hi

Yes, it is normal.

With 4 versions of XP now (Home, Pro, Media Edition, Tablet PC) I
guess they just got tired of having to handle the different startup
screens each time they needed to compile/link a new build of the
OS/Service pack. It takes one more thing out of the test matrix for
all the various builds, since it is now consistent across all
derivatives of Windows XP.

Keeping it simple is a way to save time and money.

They also removed the years with the copyright sign at the bottom,
another annoying bug removed! XP started to look old I guess...

At least it has for me removed a long-standing annoyance at
'Professional' being off from any sensible alignment with anything else
on the screen
