XP Splash screen & SP2

Eddie

The splash screen has changed with SP2 and it is now the
same for both XP Pro and XP Home.

I prefered the green splash screen that came with XP
Home, does anybody know which files are used for the
splash screen so I could save before installing SP2?

Thanks
Eddie

It's not like Windows 9x where you can just replace a file and get a new
graphic. The splash screen is an embedded resource in a system file - it's
not that easy to change.

It's not that hard either..

It still amazes me why this bothers people - considering every time they see
the screen, they cannot do much else but see it - and hopefully your system
boots fast enough where that time is minimized.

Control Panel-->System.

Look on the general (first) tab. If SP2 is installed, it will show there.

It is inbuilt in the code of the relevant module. That's why there is
now just one, instead of separate ones for four variants (including
Tablet and Media Center).

LOL.......I wish I could! What did the original splash screen look like?

Originally, under the Windows flag it had 'Professional' or 'Home
Ediiton'. In SP2 these are omitted. And the progress bar below was
different colors for each.
Also the Copyright, lower left included dates

Must have saved a lot of developement $'s too.
